My camping friend Jim was so envious he purchased his in 2006.  Not only do they handle a load beautifully, they’re beautiful to look at while on the trail. I’ve attached a couple of pictures from a winter camping trip in the Adirondacks we took in February 2006. Great craftsmanship John, a light toboggan, yet solid and can handle as large a load as I’m able to pull.”

Dennis’s friend Jim says:  “Hello John.  Your toboggan arrived today.  Pretty is an understatement, it’s beautiful. A friend and I are heading to the woods next Thursday and it will solve many problems I’ve had with a load.  Thanks for the good job and the best. Again Thanks.” -- Jim McCafferty

Brown02Bruce says, “Hey John. The sled is everything that you need for winter hunts in the north woods. On a recent cat hunt we had plenty of room for hunters, gear and the dogs.  It is excellent!  Thank you very much.”

Ryan Casavan

Serious Ice Fishermen appreciate the quality and dependability of our sleds. Ryan Casavan, Fishing Guide, says:

"Northern Toboggan Sleds are by far the best sleds made for serious ice fishing.  Sometimes I travel through rocks, swamps and woods 40 miles into lakes buried in the Canadian wilderness only to find rods broken and all my gear wrapped up!"

"After talking to John I started using one of his sleds. I could not believe how nice it pulled behind my snowmobile. And for the first time my gear was the same way I packed it. Now when I take those short and long trips into Ontario, first thing I pack is the Northern Toboggan Sled. Because its no fun fishing with broken equipment."

In a letter to us, Vaughan says:

"The toboggan freight sled we took on the Serum 25 trip to Nome (a distance of 770 miles) was excellent. At no time did it fail to deliver its full potential. If I go again on such a trip, I will want one of your toboggan freight sleds."

William K. Wightman

Mr. Wightman would recommend our sleds to anyone. He writes:

"I wanted to tell you what a joy it is to have purchased the sleigh from your company. It seems that more and more products, for work and for recreation are mass produced at the expense of quality and do not stand the rugged use and abuse of our great outdoors. Your sled has been used for remote construction projects, as well as family outings, fishing and hunting trips."

"I've included photo's from a recent archery hunt where we used the sleigh to haul our equipment and to help make the hunt a successful one. Four years of hard running and the Northern Toboggan sled is still my choice for work or play. Thanks again for a superior hand made product."

Will Steger

Whether a freight sled or a traditional flat toboggan best suits your needs, we have the expertise and craftsmanship to fulfill your requirements. World-renowned wilderness adventurer Will Steger says:

"To my surprise, I have never seen the Yellowknife toboggan-sled used by snowmobilers in the lower 48. That is, until last year when I discovered Northern Toboggan and Sled. I used a "four-board" all last winter hauling in supplies to my wilderness cabin in Canada. It held up fine and this fall it still looks new."

Dick Johnson

Dick Johnson and his fishing friends spend an enviable amount of time in God's Country. He writes:

"Just a note to let you know how satisfied I have been with the sled I purchased from you. At the time I had been pulling a homemade sled with my snowmobile, which contained ice fishing equipment. I was looking for a different type of sled with traits that I wanted, but didn't have in my sled."

"Three of my fishing friends had purchased sleds from your company and I had been attracted previously by your advertising. After physically inspecting the quality of materials and workmanship in your sleds along with the testimonials from my friends I purchased a sled from you. "

"Since then I have pulled your sled over much of Lake of the Woods, winter fishing for walleye, crappie, and lake trout. From the Northwest Angle to White Fish Bay to Miles Bay to Nester Falls to Morson, I have found qualities that make your sled superior. The sled is light in weight, sturdy in construction, tracks the snowmobile well, good in all snow conditions and very stable when being pulled."

"I would recommend your sled to anyone, as my friends recommended it to me. Thank you for building a great product and continued success to Northern Toboggan & Sled."

Julie and Charly are avid mushers. They recently used one of our toboggans on an expedition in northern Saskatchewan...

Hi John. Your toboggan worked perfectly for our three-week adventure in northern Saskatchewan. The toboggan floated nicely on the trails, unlike the other sled which dug in and jumped off the trail.  Thanks again for the well-crafted toboggan.

Swanny

Here is what Swanny of Fairbanks, AK says about his new 14’ 3 board toboggan...

    Hi John.

Although we’ve had very poor snow conditions I finally threw caution to the winds, hooked up the mutts, and took my new toboggan out for a spin.  After the first run I put my “modern” gear away for the season. Today I loaded it with 120 lb of weights (softener salt bags), my gear bag (probably 50 lb) and my heavy arse (230 lb) and my 8 dog team took me 20 miles in about 3 hours.  Only one little bitty issue, and that was driver error?

You wanna know what happens when a solid oak toboggan smacks nearly head on into a black spruce tree?  Not much at all.

Everyone who has seen it has the same reaction be they old-time dog mushers or young hot-rod sled dog racers – “That is SO KOOL!!!!”

I’m lovin’ it.  You do great work and I’ll be happy to sing the praises of this sled to the world.

    Hello John,

It has been a long time since we had met upon receiving my new toboggan, and to actually trying it.  The weather here in Winnipeg has been, to say the least, rotten.  It has been either bitter (character building haha) cold, or severely windy.  There had been one two decent weekends during this time, but we had to miss them due to other commitments.  Anyway, we finally got out onto a really good hill this past weekend, and we had a ball.  My kids and I absolutely love this toboggan.  It really is of the highest quality, and so much room for my girls ( 11 and 13 years old ) and their 220 lb 40 year old kid of a dad!!  Thanks again John, it was a pleasure to meet you, and keep up the great work!!

    Best regards,
    Paul

    Thanks, Jennie

Greg Emerson

Greg is from Ontario Canada and wanted a freight sled for hauling firewood with his Ski Doo...

    HELLO JOHN!

Finally, we got to see the full power of the sled today.  Loaded with wood, it ran as if there was no wood in it.  Such a smooth, well built, device.  Our winter has been disappointing lately, but this sleigh has brought a smile to our faces, for sure.  Even today after an inch of rain fell, it still moved smoothly and without much effort, totally loaded with wood.  I will send you a picture soon!

Everyone has had a ride and we all marvel at this sled.  My sister said, it is something my Mom and Dad would never have experienced had I not bought it, and I am so happy I did.

    Thanks again John, Greg Emerson

Blake

When we ship our freight sleds with cargo boxes the cargo boxes are “knocked down” or partially disassembled for shipment. Blake is from Nova Scotia Canada...

    John

The sled arrived yesterday and I assembled it today. The instructions were very clear but the job was so easy they were barely necessary. Beautiful work. It is going to be a pleasure to own and use this sled. Thanks for all you have done.

    Cheers

St--John's-Toboggan-TeamThis one is from my younger son Gabriel, he is a good hand in the shop and perhaps a bit biased…however, I did send him back to school with a Downhill Toboggan along the condition that he put it to the test…

After last Christmas break, Dad sent me back to school with a downhill toboggan strapped to the top of my car. Shortly after my return, a few of the hockey boys joined me in forming the very first St. John’s “Boggan Team.” Sitting four deep and heading down the Alpine Ski hill on campus, we have thoroughly tested our prized sled.  And now in our second season we have yet to see any damage, to the sled that is. With all sincerity, if these sleds can handle four crazy college students with complete disregard for their own well being and even less concern for their beloved “Boggan,” then they should serve well as a family heirloom.

DGrace-and-dogsave had just moved south from the high arctic to Yellowknife NWT…

Just to let you know I got the toboggan tied on Saturday and took it out for a run on Sunday. I can't say enough about the sled. Everything I hoped it would be..

I lined the wrap with caribou and muskox hides and my wife and kid were toasty warm and comfortable.

I have been looking forward to having a toboggan for many years. It hasn't been practical until now as a komotik is better on the hard packed snow with wicked drifts of the high arctic.

Anyways thanks for the great service. I know this sled will serve me well for many years. I look forward to ordering the next one 20 years on, hope you are still making them!!!!

    Dave
